September 2024 Beginner’s Sessions are coming!

Following the success of our beginner sessions last year, we’re pleased to announce that we will be running beginners’ sessions again this year! Our beginner’s course runs for 8 weeks, from Thursday, September 5th, to Thursday, October 24th. Each session is 1 hour long, from 6-7 pm, at our base at Fearnhead Cross Community Centre, Fearnhead, Warrington WA2 0HD. We’ve also aimed to keep the cost affordable at £30 for 8 weeks. Batida Rio Opening Night a Huge Success!

We hosted our first session last Thursday, 9th September and honestly, we were blown away by the response. Despite the terrible weather, over 40 people joined us. That’s far bigger than we were anticipating – we used almost every instrument we have, including backups! It was great to meet everyone, and start to learn our first Samba Reggae. Venue and Times are now up!

We’re pleased to announce that we have secured our venue for the foreseeable future! Batida Rio will take place at Fearnhead Cross Youth and Community Centre, Insall Road, Padgate, Warrington WA2 0HD. Sessions will run from 7pm to 9pm, every Thursday. We’re really excited to have secured this venue in one of Warrington Council’s spaces. The main hall is huge, which is perfect for large music groups. Post-COVID – Our 2021 Plans

In 2019, two experienced samba musicians decided to start a new community drumming group in Warrington. Unfortunately, just six months after this decision and at the tail end of the planning stage, the Coronavirus pandemic hit, and with it, those plans were brought to a halt. 2020-2021 Co-Op Community Fund

We are super excited to announce that Batida Rio Warrington Samba has been selected as a Community Fund recipient for 2020-2021! This unique opportunity means that Co-Operative members can support us in raising funds over the next 12 months. Our COVID-19 Response

Just a short one to elaborate on our response to the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in.
